Beginner Progressions for Fabric and Rope

Start with some introductory material on the apparatus, and slowly start building to bigger skills through progressions. Learn what you're looking for before moving to the next progression and how to spot. Learn ow to inform your student which progression they will stay at and why, personably and compassionately.

Grow your wings… concepts that will help you learn to fly!

Grip it, bend it, post it, block it, lock it!!! These are the concepts we’ll learn and use through out class to teach us how to stay afloat. The class will start out with games on the floor to help you learn the basic the concepts, then we’ll bring it in the air. We will teach you some basic vocabulary on low sling and fabrics to practice how the concepts work and then will give some guided exploratory exercises. The material translates to any apparatus.

Beginner Aerial

Explore aerial arts as a beginner in this workshop! We will focus on skill progressions, proper technique, and body position on a variety of bar and vertical aerial apparatus. In addition to giving you a taste of being off the ground, will discuss terminology, safety procedures, and teach conditioning exercises to help you develop the strength and body awareness in the air. This workshop promises a fun, safe, and supportive environment to those new to aerial arts.

Participants will learn some basic vocabulary on the apparatus, and any skills that can be learned solo before pairing up. Participants will trade partners as appropriate, and attention will be paid to both management of the apparatus as well as partnering technique.

Character is key to engaging the audience when you perform. Aerial work can be stunning, graceful or daring, but a connection to the audience makes every piece stir the heart and soul! We will work on techniques to find breath, presence and character on an apparatus without losing sight of safety. Various apparatuses available.

Rolling on the bar with momentum! In this class we will focus on using momentum for dynamic skills and the technique that makes everything possible! We will focus on hip circles, mill circles, elbow circles, beats, dismounts and more! Please come with clothes that can cover the backs of your knees and arms...and with callused hands that can withstand 1.5 hours of work! Also bring a notebook and a good attitude. PRE-REQs: 15 second front balance, 3 pull ups, straight arm inversions, single knee hangs on both sides.

In this workshop you will learn static trapeze tricks that show off your flexibility. In addition to learning new skills, we will explore exercises and conditioning that will help you control your bendy body for beautiful tricks and maximum bend to age ratio.

Trapeze Rolls, Winds, And Twists

In this workshop we will explore some of the many ways to wind yourself up in the trapeze. Rolling into ropes and around the bar, we will find places of balance and poise. We will also work on smooth exits and transitions to new shapes.

This is an introduction to working with a partner on aerial silks. You will be working in close proximity with other students to explore the tension created when sharing silks. We will try a variety of different basing and flying positions. This workshop will focus on developing trust between partners that is essential for working together in the air.
