Beginning Adventures in Duo Trapeze

In this introduction to duo trapeze, we’ll explore sharing the trapeze with a partner, safely supporting someone else’s weight, and moving in relation to another body in the air. Students will explore basic duo trapeze skills, learn foundational technique for basing and flying, and create exciting shapes with two bodies on one trapeze.

Prerequisites: For students capable of front balance, ankle hang, and inverting in the ropes on solo trapeze.

In this workshop you will learn static trapeze tricks that show off your flexibility. In addition to learning new skills, we will explore exercises and conditioning that will help you control your bendy body for beautiful tricks and maximum bend to age ratio.

Trapeze Rolls, Winds, And Twists

In this workshop we will explore some of the many ways to wind yourself up in the trapeze. Rolling into ropes and around the bar, we will find places of balance and poise. We will also work on smooth exits and transitions to new shapes.

Ankle Hangs: Understanding Good Technique and Exploring Dynamic Movement

In this workshop, we will explore ankle hangs on static trapeze in depth. We will discuss and execute proper body alignment and technique through a series of drills. Then we will learn and refine a variety of drops and dynamic movements into ankle hangs. Gaiters or other ankle protection is welcome but not required.

This workshop will examine momentum using physics and biomechanics as our guide. Although this is a rope-based workshop, the concepts can also be applied to other aerial apparatuses, including fabric and static/dance trapeze. Pre-Req: Straight arm invert.

Recreational Adaptive Circus Training: Beginner Trapeze and Spanish Web

We will look very closely at some of the beginner trapeze and rope tricks in the ACSTM (Aerial Circus Safety and Training Manual). We will discuss and demonstrate how to break down tricks and create “baby steps” so that those with developmental delays and/or physical challenges can begin to learn Aerial (trapeze & rope) tricks at their own pace.
