Lauren Feldman

Dramaturgy instructor
Philadelphia, PA
Lauren Feldman's plays and circus acts have been seen internationally, and she performs with partner Megan Gendell. Lauren is also a circus dramaturg, an ensemble collaborator, and a teaching artist and professor. She has served on circus dramaturgy panels hosted by LMDA, Circus Now, and the Montreal Working Group on Cirque. She travels nationally, teaching an array of workshops in artistic craft (story, character, structure, style, text, ensemble work, and more), including a workshop on Making Circus That Matters -- which she taught most recently at the New England Center for Circus Arts/Brattleboro, Circus Now’s CirQ Through/Chicago Contemporary Circus Festival, the Southern Fried Circus Festival/Dallas, and Versatile Arts/Seattle. She holds an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama, is an alumna of NECCA’s Pro-Track program, and is passionate about the art of crafting live performance.
Lauren loves working with circus artists on developing their ideas, acts, and full-length shows to their fullest artistic potential. She works with acts in any form and at any stage: developing seedling ideas, crafting acts-in-progress, or revising and polishing full pieces. She's available for private or semiprivate lessons in:
-       act creation, development, or refinement
-       finding, crafting, or integrating text
-       theatricality, audience connection, or performance technique
-       character development
-       queering the circus
and more.
